Clybourne Park
The Alpha Players present "Clybourne Park" by Bruce Norris. Florissant Civic Center Theatre March 6, 7, 13, & 14 at 7:30 and March 15 at 2pm Inspired by "A Raisin in the Sun," an unforgettable new story of race, territory and community emerges in this funny and highly provocative play that asks the question "have we changed in the past 50 years? "Clybourne Park spans 50 years in the same house. In Act 1 it is 1959 and Russ and Bev are selling their desirable bungalow at a bargain price, bringing the first black family into the neighborhood and creating ripples of discontent among the white residents. In Act 2 it is 2009. The same property has been bought by a young white couple, whose plan to raze the house and rebuild is met with equal disapproval by the black residents of the soon-to-be-gentrified area. Come see how things have changed...or have they? WARNING: Adult language. Not suitable for children.
