Boy Scouts of America "Scouting for Food" -- Bag Distribution Day
Scouting for Food is the nation's largest one-day food drive. Started in 1985 here in the St. Louis area, Scouting for Food has expanded to become a nation-wide effort and in the St. Louis area alone, more than 43 million items have been collected since that time.
Each year, our Scouts, leaders and parents collect approximately two million items that will serve approximately 500 pantries within the Greater St. Louis Area Council. This single food drive will meet a four-month demand for food in our area.
- November 12, 2011 -- Scouts will distribute bags to households.
- November 19, 2011 -- Scouts will return to same households to pick up bags filled with canned food items and, with help of many fire stations and transportation companies, deliver food to the St. Louis Area Foodbank.
If your home is overlooked, please take a collection of food to your local fire station on the morning of Nov. 19.
