HALLOWEEN HAPPENINGS
Sponsored by the Hazelwood Parks and Recreation Division, this spooktacular event offers a safe, dry and ghoulish way for kids of all ages to celebrate Halloween. In addition to getting a grab bag of goodies, youngsters will have fun playing spirited games, guessing the number of candy pieces in a glass jar and going on a Halloween hayride. At 7:20 pm, a costume contest begins for children in the following age groups: Ages 2 & Under; Ages 3-5 Years; Ages 6-8 Years; Ages 9-11 Years; Ages 12-15 Years; and Ages 16 & Over. One grand prize will be awarded to the first-place winner in each age group.
COLORING CONTEST
Open to kids from now until Oct. 31 in two age categories, Kindergarten thru 2nd Grade and 3rd Grade thru 5th Grade. The deadline for submitting entries is Wed., Oct. 31. There is a limit of one try per child. Kids can work on their coloring pages at the Halloween Happenings and then turn them in. The coloring must be done by the child without assistance from parents or older siblings. Judging of the entries and announcements of the winners will take place of Thurs., Nov. 1. One prize will be awarded for each grade level. The prize winners will be notified and asked to pick-up their award package at Civic Center East, 8969 Dunn Road.
