DESCRIPTION:The City of Bellefontaine Neighbors is celebrating their 63rd Anniversary!\n\n	\n\n	The St. Louis County Department of Parks and Recreation will open the General Daniel Bissell House Museum\, 10225 Bellefontaine Road\, for FREE tours from Noon to 4 PM on Satruday\, October 12\, 2013 in honor of the CIty of Bellefontaine Neighbors 63rd Anniversary.  This is your chance to step 200 years back in time to see how past generations lived.  No reservations necessary.  Tours will begin every 30 minutes.\n\n	\n\n	The tour includes an exhibit\, the War of 1812.  Often referred to as the second American Revolution\, two hundred years ago on June 18\, 1812\, the United States declared war on the British Empire.  Reasons were many and included trade restrictions\, British impressment of American merchant sailors and support of American Indian tribes against American expansion\,. and humiliations on the highs seas.  This was the first time that the United States had declared war on another country.\n\n	\n\n	Now you can view an exhibit on the oft forgotten conflict at the Bissell House Museum and get a tour of this magnificent old house.  The exhibit includes descriptive panels from the Museum of the U.S. Navy\, General Daniel Bissell artifacts\, including the field desk that he used during the war\, and prints from the Company of Military Historians.
